ICC profiles, and inherently Wasatch Imaging Configurations, are precision calibrations built for a specific combination of printer hardware, media, and ink. For this reason, change to any of the variables that the profile or imaging configuration is built for will negatively influence the print results.
Many print shops in fact will update or create new imaging configurations or profiles at regular intervals to stop device drift. Device drift is inherent in digital printers and refers to the tendency of a device's output to change over time due to mechanical wear, print head maintenance, and other factors.
Using a profile or imaging configuration built for any device other than your own is therefore an experiment. You may find that spot colors will be significantly off when using a "canned" or generic profile due to the differences between the profiled equipment and your own equipment.
If you are using a configuration or profile meant for a different piece of equipment, the results are almost always completely unusable.
GO TEK Group offers custom profiling services for most devices. Contact us for more information.
