A Wasatch Imaging Configuration is simply a container for the various settings that are needed to properly manage a digital inkjet printer in an ICC based color workflow.
What does an imaging configuration contain, then?
- Printer settings (resolution, number of passes, and other machine-specific settings)
- Ink limits
- Linearization data (the "characteristics" or "fingerprint" of your printer)
- ICC profile (the relationship between the ink and media)
- Additional color correction curves, if used
- Spot color replacements, if used
For this reason, while the terms "profile" and "imaging configuration" tend to be used interchangeably, there is a distinct difference between the two and they should not be confused with each other.
