The RIO printer includes a "Prefeed" option built-in that can be accessed (when the printer shows Ready to Print) by pressing MENU, pressing the right arrow to go to Utility, pressing ENTER, and pressing the right arrow again to go to Prefeed.
Here is a list of the options for that mode and what they do:
The next option in the Utility menu is called Prefeed Amount, which controls how much the printer will advance the paper by when Prefeed is set to Manual. By default this is set to 0mm and the printer will print one job immediately after the last, with no margin in between. If you do not have a top margin set in your software, you may want to set this to 5mm or so to provide a small margin.
Here is a list of the options for that mode and what they do:
- Manual - Factory default. Feeds material before printing by the amount specified in the next menu entry.
- Takeup - Assumes the printer has a takeup system attached. No prefeed amount is set. The cutter is disabled and the printer will not attempt to detect the front edge of the paper when the lever is lowered.
- Data - Prefeeds by an amount set from the RIP software. As Wasatch does not typically control this, it causes the printer to feed approximately 3' of paper before retracting.

By default this is set to 0mm and the printer will print one job immediately after the last, with no margin in between.
